Touching Spirit Bear Rewrite From Peters Point of View By Karlee Brewster
I hit the ground and jolted forward. At the same time Cole carefully wrapped his bruised arms around my shoulders. Then I just laid back in his body. I let myself be rocked and hugged as I thought about the last days then the month then the year. My life changed drastically since I was beat up by Cole and now I was with him on the island. At first I hated the island and now I think it is not that horrible. As I was thinking the unthinkable happened. Not even 20 feet away their stood the massive white Spirit Bear that turned Coles world around.
“Peter look in front of us” Cole whispered slowly and gently letting go of me.
I just sniffled and stared at the ground blankly.
Cole nudged me again and repeated “look Peter it’s the Spirit Bear”.
I raised my head and looked in disbelief. My eyes went wide in amazement. I was shocked “Will it hurt us” I whispered.
Cole very quietly explained, “Were not threatening the bear. We have become invisible”.
I looked at him, extremely puzzled, and it must of showed because he told me, “Don’t worry. I will explain later”.
For about 60 seconds the giant Spirit Bear just stood frozen almost statue like, just gazing at us. Suddenly a squirrel chattered, shattering the silence, echoing like a clap of thunder blazing through the sky. Then almost non-existent like the bear swung its massive head around and very slowly rambled out of sight like a ghost disappearing into the trees.
I drew in a deep breath as if I was waking up from a deep sleep, and asked “Did we really see what I think we did?”
Cole just shrugged and smiled. “ They say there aren’t any Spirit Bears down here.”
“But I well we just saw one right” I insisted. “Will anybody believe us”
Cole just smiled and explained “It doesn’t matter what other people think or believe, it’s what you believe and think is true. Peter yes we did see a spirit bear and I believe that.”
